The ideas for the games on this page and that will be added as we develop them
were thought up by the pupils of Primary 7 at Auchinleck Primary School. The
games have been created by Stephen Welsh of Auchinleck Academy.
More will be added soon.

Asteroids
by Stephen Welsh
Goal
Asteroids
is traditional game. You have to avoid the asteroids with your spaceship
while trying to destroy them. The more asteroids you destroy, the more
points you get.
Playing
Rotate
your spaceship using the left and right arrow keys. Increase speed using
the up arrow key. Use the down arrow key to teleport yourself away from
a dangerous situation (but be careful, you might end up in an asteroid).
Use the spacebar to shoot. That`s all. You can always quit using the Esc
key.
Life
by
Mark Overmars
The
game of life is famous. It is about a population of dots. A dot is happy
when it has 2 or 3 neighbors. Otherwise it dies. And at an empty place,
a new dot is born if the place has exactly three neighboring dots. Starting
from some initial pattern new patterns appear because dots die and new
dots are born. The game has been studied by many mathematicians and interesting
properties have been proven about it.
This simulation lets you play with the game. You can add dots with the
left mouse button and remove them with the right mouse button. Next you
press the play button at the top, and the population comes to life. (Note
that when dots live long, their color slowly changes to blue.) There are
also buttons to clear the playing field, and to save patterns and load
patterns.

by Stephen Welsh especially for the Auchinleck website Youth pages.
