The Auchinleck Indoor Bowling Club opened in August 1980 and has had considerable success over the years. Both Ladies and Gents teams have won the Scottish League, and former World Champions Hugh Duff, Betty Brown and Kate Adams played for Auchinleck.
The Juniors are particularly strong at the moment. Kirsty Armstrong and Carol Gemmell were part of the first Ladies Scottish Junior International Team at Bristol on the 17/18th January where they finished 2nd.
Jim Leitch and Gary Johnstone represented Scotland at Junior International level in a tournament in Southampton where Scotland finished 3rd.
Craig Johnstone was also a finalist at the Scottish Junior Championships held at Paisley where he reached the semi-finals. On the same weekend Tommy Woods and Craig Richmond were beaten in the final of the Scottish 2 Bowl Pairs.
The club would like to attract new youngsters to replace these stars as they move up the ranks. We arrange visits to other clubs at very little cost and encourage the youngsters to take part in club events once they get into the swing of things.
The Ladies section, too, would like more members. Special coaching sessions with a free cup of tea can be arranged whilst the children are at school if you are interested.
There is a full social calendar including Bingo, Line Dancing and, of course, meeting friends in the café.
